Metadata is information stored within a file that includes data designed to help locate the file later. Metadata is added by the system, the application the file was created in, and also by people who work with that file.
The problem with metadata is not knowing what it contains, and then sharing the file with the embedded information with others.
Back in 1998, our attorney sent us a document that was showing signs of corruption. After closer inspection, we discovered that the file contained tracked changes going back many years. This information included changes made for clients based on a template or boilerplate document used throughout the firm. Soon thereafter, we created Metadata Assistant, the first metadata removal tool of its kind. The product was featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal in 2000 and today the tool is used by millions of people around the world.
Metadata is effective, easy to learn and easy to use. Trust the software used by law firms, government agencies, corporations, health care, financial and more.
Metadata Assistant removes embedded metadata from Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, audio, video, graphics and many other file types. Metadata Assistant integrates with email and document management systems to create a seamless experience.
Metadata Assistant 5 is compatible with Microsoft Office 2019, 2016, 365, 2013, and 2010, Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7 and Server platforms. Supports 32 and 64 bit Operating Systems.
The new Metadata Assistant 5 Client Administration Tool is now available to our Enterprise customers with annual maintenance at no additional charge. This new tool gives you, the administrator, a more 'hands on approach' to changing your company's existing and custom configuration file.
You can quickly change your existing settings for some of our most popular options. These include applying a default scan levels, safe-listing email domains, turning on/off the 'Check for external mail only', and so much more.
The Administration Tool is a separate installation that does not require 1) the Metadata Assistant or 2) installation on the end-user's computer. As the administrator, you make the desired changes to the configuration file and then distribute the file. It's that easy.
